Broncos viewing Week 2 showdown with Vancouver Island as winnable game
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Broncos are looking for their first win of the young B.C. Football Conference season and it could come in Nanaimo on Saturday as they face the 0-1 Vancouver Island Raiders, who were upset in Week 1 by the historically dreadful Valley Huskers in Chilliwack.
“I don’t think we’ve ever won down there. Obviously their Week 1 upset. By all accounts, it was an upset. But we just got to go down there and play a good solid football game and I think we can win,” said Broncos head coach Brad Yamaoka as the team was boarding the bus on Friday to Vancouver Island.
Things can only go up for the Broncos after an embarrassing 55-6 loss the Okanagan Sun in the season-opener at home last week. What could’ve gone wrong did, and the team knows that is partly on their own sloppy play.
