Golf legend Roxburgh back for 52nd straight B.C. amateur in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Doug Roxburgh is a legend when it comes to amateur golf in B.C. A 13-time winner of the B.C. Men’s Amateur Championship, Roxburgh is teeing it up at his 52nd straight championship this week at Rivershore.
“I just enjoy competing,” says Roxburgh. “I like preparing for championships and coming. Now it’s more about seeing how the young kids hit the ball and getting to experience that. It’s part of my tournament schedule in the summer. I look forward to it, and usually it’s some of the great courses around the province.”
The 66-year-old Roxburgh won his first B.C. amateur in 1969 and he remembers it well.
