WolfPack unbeaten after two days of play at Western Canadian championships

WINNIPEG, MB — The Corryn Brown foursome, representing Thompson Rivers University is the only unbeaten rink going after two days of play at the Western Canadian University women’s curling championships.

Brown won both her games on Saturday (Feb 10) including a thrilling 8-7 extra end win over the host foursome from the University of Winnipeg.

Brown, third Erin Pincott, second Dezaray Hawes and lead Samantha Fisher have three straight victories after earlier wins over Lethbridge and Alberta.

In this match, they scored one in the second, two in the fourth, one in the seventh, three in the ninth and one in the 11th.

Winnipeg,skipped by Christine McKay, notched a single in the first, two in the third, one in the fifth and ninth and two in the 10th.

Round robin play winds up on Sunday (Feb 11) morning with the WolfPack meeting up with the University of Regina Cougars skipped by Haylee Jamieson.

The standings after two days of play have TRU at 3-0, Regina 2-1,  Winnipeg 2-2, Alberta 1-2, Lethbridge, 0-3.

The top rinks advance to the USPORTS Nationals which will be held in Leduc, Alberta in March.
