Drivers walk away from crash between Chase and Pritchard

CHASE, B.C. — Two drivers walked away after a frightening crash on the Trans Canada Highway between Chase and Pritchard Thursday morning.

According to Chase RCMP, a westbound Honda Civic and an eastbound logging truck collided as they passed each other.

Both vehicles hit the ditch, with the semi doing more damage, striking a power pole and breaking the line, leading to a local outage.

The truck also started on fire, igniting a small grass fire in the area.

RCMP say both drivers walked away from the crash, but were taken to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops as a precaution.

Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol are factors in the crash.

Police say traffic is getting through, but one lane of the highway will remain closed today while crews clean up the scene and repair the power lines.
