KAMLOOPS — More than a year after he was shot and seriously wounded in a traffic stop, Kamloops RCMP Corporal J.R. Michaud is back on the job.

Superintendent Brad Mueller says Michaud has returned to work in a limited capacity, working part time on administrative duties.

Mueller adds Michaud’s return has been good for morale in the force.

“Absolutely, I think everyone was relieved, when we stand back and we just see where he has come in his recovery it’s a tremendous boost to everyone here at the detachment,” said Mueller.

Michaud was shot on December 3, 2014, shortly after pulling a vehicle in Batchelor Heights.

Kenneth Knutson was arrested a short time later and is facing an Attempted Murder charge.

Knutson is expected to plead guilty in March.

Mueller says if Knutson follows through, that will negate the necessity of a trial, and Kamloops RCMP see that as a big positive.
