ROSEANNE REBOOT RENEWED: Following the fantastic ratings (21.869 million viewers) for the premiere of Roseanne‘s reboot on ABC, the network is greenlighting the show for another season. The order is for 13 episodes, up from 9 in the first installment. “We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year,” said Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment.

KATHY GRIFFIN TO PLAY KELLYANNE CONWAY: What could go wrong? Kathy Griffin drew scathing headlines when she released a photo of herself holding a fake severed head meant to be President Trump, but in recent weeks, she has been staging a comeback after staying quiet for several months. On Tuesday, she is set to play White House advisor Kellyanne Conway in a new President Show special on Comedy Central. The show is being billed as a mock telethon hosted by Trump (played by Antony Atamanuik) “to raise money for all of the projects he can’t get anyone in Congress to fund – like the wall and infrastructure” and those “mouthy porn stars [who] aren’t going to pay themselves off.”

COLIN TREVORROW RETURNS TO HELM JURASSIC WORLD: Steven Spielberg shared the news that Colin Trevorrow is coming back to the Jurassic World franchise. Trevorrow has signed on to direct the third installment. He directed 2015’s Jurassic World, which became the fourth-highest-grossing title of all time with $1.67 billion worldwide.

REPORT: TRUMP’S ELECTION LED TO AI REVIVAL: After President Donald Trump got elected, ABC honchos held a meeting to redirect their programming strategy, deciding that their lineup wasn’t economically diverse enough. (Fresh Off the Boat, Grey’s Anatomy, Designated Survivor, and The Middle depict characters of different ethnicities and classes, but they decided that wasn’t enough, per The New York Times). “We had spent a lot of time looking for diverse voices in terms of people of color and people from different religions and even people with a different perspective on gender,” ABC president Channing Dungey said. “But we had not been thinking nearly enough about economic diversity and some of the other cultural divisions within our own country.” That re-centering led to the revival of American Idol and Roseanne. Think ABC was smart to make a change?
