Will Smith thinks the future is going to be a "a f—ing mess."
Smith was sharing his vision at a press event for Netflix's Bright. Without naming names, he addressed the political events that have rocked the nation in recent months. While he didn't name names, he alluded to President Donald Trump several times.
- "This is the purge, right?" Smith asked. "This is the cleanse, this is what happens. This is the natural reaction to the amount of light that came into the world when Barack Obama was the president."
- He went on, saying: "We had to expect that [the pendulum] was going to go the other way. As a cleanse - this is the darkness before the dawn."
- Smith continued: "I feel very, very strongly that we are shifting into what the next age of humanity is going to be right now. It's just the s-t has to get stirred up, in a way. We're seeing it all. ... It's going to be really interesting to see how humanity reacts to it, and it's going to be a f-king mess. It's going to be a mess, but it's the mess in the cleanup. It's the mess and the purge before that new, real light shows up."
- Bright is a fantasy film about an LAPD officer, played by Smith and his orc partner, portrayed by Joel Edgerton, and their fight over a magic wand. The film premieres on Netflix on December 22nd.
