Kamloops Fire Rescue confirms cause of East Shuswap Road fire

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue has confirmed the official cause of a wildfire that scorched 545 hectares on the Tk'emlups Reserve earlier this month.

The East Shuswap Road fire sparked on July 12, spreading quickly and threatening homes, leading to a brief evacuation.

Simpcw Chief Nathan Matthew named TRU Chancellor

KAMLOOPS — Longtime Simpcw First Nation Chief Nathan Matthew is the newest chancellor of Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops.

Matthew was unveiled as Wally Oppal's successor at a ceremony on campus Friday afternoon.

Rescue crews scour waters in Cache Creek for missing firefighter

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — A frantic search for the village fire chief has been launched in Cache Creek.

In response to an overnight rain storm, Clayton Cassidy went out in the pre-dawn hours Friday to check the level of Cache Creek itself.
