KAMLOOPS — The Blazers will be without forward Brodi Stuart for Game 4 on Wednesday night after the WHL served him a one-game punishment after a hit on Victoria defenseman Matthew Smith.

The play happened in the Royals’ zone in the second period when Stuart caught Smith after he released the puck.

“[The WHL] just felt there was maybe some contact to the head,” said Blazers’ GM Matt Bardsley. “From the video we had, it was hard to really tell where the contact was. We thought it was towards the chest, but the league determined that they felt it was at the head.”

Smith, who was playing for the first time since Feb. 24, left the game and never returned. Bardsley only speculated the injury played a factor in the discipline.

“I imagine he’s not going to be playing today, so that certainly could be the case because there’s an injury,” he said. “There wasn’t a call on the ice, but I guess they still determined there was an injury on the play. That determined Victoria’s request for supplmental discipline.”

As Stuart sits out tonight (Mar. 27), forward Kobe Mohr returns to the Kamloops line-up after serving a two-game suspension for an incident with an official in Game 1 in Victoria.
