KAMLOOPS — Ban the Bag Kamloops is moving forward with their campaign to ban single-use plastics in the city.

During next week’s regular city council meeting, the local organization will be making a presentation, asking the City to pass a motion to adopt best practice guidelines to address plastic pollution.

Michele Hadley, a retired nurse, has spearheaded the campaign locally.

“Canada spearheaded the Ocean Plastic Charter last year at the G7 meeting but the charter is short on any specifics and dates,” the presentation states. “As such, cities are left to deal with this enormous environmental, biological, and biodiversity issue independently.”
