Blazers squeeze out win over Tri-City

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers defeated the Tri-City Americans 2-1 on Wednesday night to move closer to the second wild card playoff in the Western Conference.

It could have been four, five or 6-1 or more if not for the goaltending of the Americans Beck Warm, who faced 45 shots.

HIGHLIGHTS: Blazers hang on to win over Tri-City

The Blazers opened the scoring at 5:44 of the first period on Orrin Centazzo’s power play goal on a setup from Zane Fanklin.

Centazzo scored again at 2:55 of the second for a 2-0 Blazers lead, from Brodi Stuart and Zane Fanklin with his second assist of the night.

Tri-Cities made its power play count late in the second when Sasha Mutala beat Dylan Ferguson, who had 25 saves.

On his teams 45 shots Blazers coach Serge Lajoie says “Nice to see us getting those chances. It would have been nice to see as rewarded a little more. I think we are a team that’s a little fragile now when it comes to goal scoring, but nice to get two points out of scoring just two goals —- I liked the resolve of our guys.”

The Blazers will host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night, who they trail by three points for the second wild card.
