Sagebrush Theatre closed indefinitely due to structure damage

KAMLOOPS — A serious structural issue has led to the emergency closure of Sagebrush Theatre.

During a routine technical setup, it was determined that part of a roof truss was damaged. Art McDonald is School District 73’s director of facilities and transportation. 

He says the damage required immediate attention, and engineers are currently investigating.

“The technical director for Western Canada Theatre company noticed some cracking in the ceiling,” he says. “Upon investigation, we’ve got one piece of one of the roof trusses (which) has a crack in it, so based on that we don’t want anything falling on anybody, and we need to fix it so we’ve closed the theatre until we can get it fixed.”

There’s not yet a timeline for when the issue will be resolved.
