KAMLOOPS —The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball senior night was dampened by the University of Manitoba Bisons when they pulled off the 86-68 victory Saturday night (Jan. 26) at the Tournament Capital Centre.

Even though the final home weekend didn’t end in the WolfPack’s favour, they still took a moment following the final buzzer to pay homage to their three graduating seniors.

Michelle Bos (Surrey, BC), Kanesha Reeves and Emily Vilac (both Kamloops, BC) were celebrated with a few family members, presented with flowers, a framed uniforms and an action shot from the team.

The WolfPack were led by:

Kanesha Reeves (5th year guard, Kamloops, BC): 19 points, 3 rebounds

Emily Vilac (5th year forward, Kamloops, BC): 11 points

Leilani Carney (4th year guard, Burnaby, BC): 11 points, 4 assists

Michelle Bos (5th year guard, Surrey, BC): 9 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists

Tonight’s contest also marked the final home game for Chuck Ferguson, who has been an assistant coach with the WolfPack for the past 13 seasons.

At 54, Ferguson is looking forward to spending time with his family and doing some travelling. He also stated that he plans to be around the ‘Pack program in the future, but in a lesser role.

The WolfPack will finish their regular season next weekend at the University of Calgary’s Jack Simpson Gym to tangle with the Dinos on Saturday and Sunday (Feb 1 and 2).

TRU’s men’s basketball were in position to pull off a late comeback Saturday night (Jan. 26), but narrowly lost 73-66 to the University of Manitoba Bison at the Tournament Capital Centre.

Prior to tipoff, the WolfPack honoured their lone fifth year player, Derek Rhodes. Rhodes has played for the ‘Pack for the past three seasons after transferring from Sacramento Community College.

The WolfPack received scoring from every player on the roster, but were led by:

Tyus DeVries (2nd year guard, Chilliwack, BC): 15 points, 7 rebounds

Derek Rhodes (5th year forward, Antioch, CA): 15 points, 8 assists

Joe Davis (4th year forward, Kamloops, BC): 7 points, 7 rebounds

The ‘Pack close out their 2018-19 Canada West campaign next weekend (Feb. 1-2) against the University of Calgary Dinos at the Jack Simpson Gym.

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team are back on the winning track in Canada West play.

The scores were 25-22,25-20,19-25,25-18.

TRU is now 9-8 on the year while the Bisons fall to 8-11.

The WolfPack were led, like they have been all season by Tim Dobbert. The fifth year outside hitter from Germany had 19 kills in 50 opportunites.

The ‘Pack will return home to begin a four game home stand. That begins Friday, February 1st on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre when the opposition will be the Brandon University Bobcats.  Game time will be 6:45 pm
