WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Police in Williams Lake have made dozens of arrests after a three-week project focusing on a rise in break-ins and thefts from vehicles in the city.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says in a news release that during the period, roughly 60 contacts were made with known offenders, and 29 arrests were made. It was part of the detachment’s approach to proactive policing, and officers were able to identify prolific and known property offenders in the city.

Curfew checks were completed nightly and some street checks were conducted.

Police have submitted numerous reports to Crown counsel for review, and Saunderson says as a result, there are two people on strict curfew conditions and three of the arrested people remain in custody.
