KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue inspectors have completed an investigation into the cause of Wednesday’s house fire on Paulsen Place.

According to Fire Inspector Kevin Cassidy, the fire started sometime between 7:40 and 8:20 in the morning, igniting on the back deck and spreading into the home.

The cause of the fire has been identified as a space heater which was turned on and set up against the wall of the house.

Highly explosive containers located nearby increased the rate at which the fire spread, resulting in extensive damage to the home.
