KAMLOOPS — A preliminary inquiry began today at the Kamloops courthouse for a man accused in a shootout with RCMP on the Tk’emlups Reserve.

Shane Caron is facing a long list of charges, including four counts of attempted murder, after a chase last October that led from the Kamloops North Shore onto the reserve and culminated with a lengthy standoff at the G & M Trailer Park.

The 17-hour standoff ended at 4:00 a.m. on October 28 with Caron’s arrest.

Speaking to CFJC Today a few days after the incident, Caron’s parents said mental illness and drug use played into their son’s actions.
