CACHE CREEK, B.C. —Those negatively affected by last month’s mudslides in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District have a little more time to apply for disaster assistance.

The province says the Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) application deadline was Nov. 28, 2018, but has now been extended to Dec. 14, 2018.

DFA is available to homeowners, residential tenants, small business owners, farmers, charitable organizations and local government bodies who were unable to obtain insurance to cover disaster-related issues.

The ministry says financial assistance is provided for each accepted claim at 80 per cent of the amount of total eligible damage that exceeds $1,000 to a maximum claim of $300,000.
