WATCH: Vehicle fire closes Highway 24 in both directions

LITTLE FORT, B.C. — Update: The highway is now open to single-lane alternating traffic.

Earlier: Avoid Highway 24 if you can.

Drive BC says a vehicle fire has closed the highway in both directions 20 kilometres west of the junction with the Yellowhead Highway in Little Fort.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route. No word yet when the highway will reopen.

An RCMP cruiser is keeping motorists back and a firefighter is watching from a distance.

Passers-by said the fire began in a trailer being towed by a truck.
