Life is grand for Kamloops lotto winner

KAMLOOPS — Another lottery winner has stepped forward in Kamloops.

The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) says Garrett Niessen matched four out of four numbers to win the Extra prize from the Aug. 30 Daily Grand draw. Niessen won $500,000.

“I logged into my PlayNow account and noticed a few extra zeros on the top right hand corner. I started counting them and realized I actually won the lottery,” said Niessen. “I called my wife over and we both screamed instantly. To say we were excited is an understatement.”

Niessen relocated to Kamloops a few months ago with his wife to be closer to family. He plans to use the money to provide some extra cushion during his retirement.

He bought the winning ticket on PlayNow.com.

Niessen isn’t the only lotto winner in town though. Earlier this week the BCLC confirmed Sherry Edwards won $1 million dollars on the Lotto 6/49 draw Sept. 1.
