Former Merritt mayor running to be TNRD director

MERRITT, B.C. — A former Merritt mayor is taking another run at municipal politics.

David Laird has filed his nomination papers to run for director of Electoral Area ‘M’ in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, known as ‘Beautiful Nicola Valley – North.’

Laird spent 15 years on Merritt city council, including a run of six years as mayor ending in 2008.

He also served as a Nicola-Similkameen School District trustee from 2011 to 2014.
