Number of wildfire evacuees in Prince George doubles over the weekend

PRINCE GEORGE — Over the weekend, the number of evacuees registered in Prince George doubled.

On Friday, the City had registered about 1300 people, there are now nearly 2700 people. So far, the city has provided lodging for 1300 people and nearly 1000 others have found accommodation with friends and family. Williams Lake has also taken on roughly 70 evacuees. Quesnel, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John remain on standby.

Evacuees coming to Prince George may choose to register and stay with friends or family, stay at a nearby campground, or travel to a different community such as Quesnel, Fort St. John, or Williams Lake. Availability at hotels in Prince George is fluctuating. Those who register will receive support services like food vouchers.
