Multi-unit construction driving housing starts in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Good news on the construction front as home starts are way up in Kamloops through July.

“Home starts were up fairly significantly in Kamloops in July 2018 with about 209 starts compared to just 25 in July 2017,” says Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Analyst Taylor Pardy.

“And so, if we were to break that down on the single side, there were 34 starts relative to 21 last year but it was really on the multi-unit side where most of the activity came from as there were 175 starts relative to four in the same month of last year.”

He says numbers in July are indicative of the strong year for housing starts in Kamloops.
