Nearly 20 Kamloops drivers caught up in weekend CounterAttack blitz

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Mounties busted nearly 20 drivers during a CounterAttack blitz over the weekend.

On Friday, July 27, over a dozen officers were involved conducting simultaneous road checks throughout the city.

They were checking for either alcohol or drugs which resulted in the following:

• 7 – 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions
• 1 – Criminal Code impaired investigation
• 4 – three day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions
• 2 – 24 hour prohibitions (for being impaired by drugs)
• 5 – Prohibited drivers
• Numerous other violation tickets

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says it’s always disappointing to see people pulled over for these kinds of offences.

“The message about don’t drink and drive is getting out there and it’s a generational thing and hopefully it keeps getting better and better. But it is disappointing to see that in a short time frame there is still almost 20 people that are pulled over in the city that had some kind of impairment due to drugs or alcohol.”
