Venom drop first game of the TOJLL final

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Venom are down a game in the Thompson-Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League final as they come back home for Game 2 on Tuesday night.

The Venom lost Game 1 by a tight 13-12 score to the rival Vernon Tigers, despite leading for most of the first two periods. 

The Venom took the lead in the first period with a 4-2 advantage on the strength of two goals by Colton Boomer. The venom’s Kordell Primus scored twice early in the second and Kamloops held an 8-5 lead at one point, but Jordy Barr of the tigers scored five straight goals and it was a 9-9 tie going to the final frame.

In the third period, the Tigers pulled away and took a 13-10 lead before Kamloops got a couple goals near the end. Primus led the Venom with seven points, a hat-trick and four assists. Boomer and Trey Dergousoff also had three goals each in the loss.
