KAMLOOPS — July 1 marks the beginning of the RCMP’s Summer CounterAttack impaired driving campaign.

E Division Traffic Services Cst. Mike Halskov says that means motorists can expect to see an increased presence on highways throughout the province the entire month of July.

He notes impairment means more than just alcohol impairment.

“It also means impairment by illegal drugs or prescription medication. In BC an average of 65 people are killed every year in collisions where alcohol, drugs or medications were contributing factors.”
