CLEARWATER, B.C. — Tragedy near Clearwater.

BC RCMP have confirmed a 21 year old Kamloops woman plunged to her death at Spahats Creek Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park.

Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau says police learned about the incident shortly before 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

“We attended and we determined that the woman had been with three other individuals – everyone is from Kamloops – when she fell between 400 to 500 feet,” she says.

“Of course we’re continuing to investigate along with the BC Coroners Service and at this time we don’t believe that any criminality was involved in the woman’s death.”

Linteau says the woman’s body has been recovered with assistance from the Clearwater, Kamloops, and 100 Mile House search and rescue teams with support from BC Parks Rangers and Yellowhead Helicopter.

The victim hasn’t been identified.
