SOUND OFF: Creating good-paying jobs for British Columbians

As we’ve prioritized key infrastructure projects, we’ve seen B.C. gain 11,500 construction jobs over the past year, and we are expecting this number to grow this coming summer, with more projects beginning and continuing.

Creating good-paying jobs that help build the infrastructure needed to grow our economy will help British Columbians thrive in the long term and keep our province an amazing place to visit and live.

We are seeing global demand for energy and natural resources that British Columbia is rich with, and by focusing on project and job creations in these sectors we’re helping keep our economy resilient and relevant in new global markets.

Our Look West strategy outlines a plan to double our exports to non-U.S. countries and increase production of natural resources so that Canada can take an even bigger role on the global energy stage.

We’re also prioritizing making sure British Columbians can access training so that they can participate in growing our economy and access good-paying, stable jobs. In Budget 2026, $283 million is set to fund training for people in much-needed skilled trades.

British Columbians love our province, its natural beauty and unique communities, and they’ve proved time and time again that they are ready to stand together to get through hard times. Our government will continue to take action to create good-paying careers for people in B.C. to help support themselves and their families.

Together, we’re building a strong, resilient economy, even in the face of global challenges.
