CACHE CREEK — Cache Creek Elementary School is looking for the public’s support to help win a $100,000 playground.

The school is one of 10 finalists for BCAA’s annual Play Here contest and school Principal Brooke Haller notes they’re really hoping for is a playground revitilization space.

“We have a massive, massive, huge playground with not a lot on it,” she says. “And our school has really been looking at green initiatives for the inside of the school and so we’d like to see a replicable area outside that includes spaces for nature and creative play.”

Haller also envisions the playground becoming a “community-based playground” for the community of roughly 1,000 people.

“Our school is much loved by the community but we don’t have a lot of options for play outside so they’d be really excited to use it for the whole community.”

She notes fundraising has been a challenge the past few years due to the continuing flood and wildfire threats, which is why they’d really like to be one of three winning schools.

Haller says people can vote everyday, four times a day through various social media channels including Facebook and Twitter.
