KAMLOOPS — The search continues for a woman who fell into Mad River near Highway 5 north of Vavenby over the weekend.

Police say 31 year old Kristi Lavalee of Regina reportedly fell into the river just before 9:00 p.m. on May 11. She had been hiking with her 36 year old boyfriend, also from Regina.

Clearwater RCMP, Search and Rescue, BC Ambulance and Victim Services all responded.

“Patrols and searches along the riverbank, from the location where the female was last seen to the railroad bridge over the North Thompson River approximately two kilometres to the south, were conducted but were not successful in locating the woman,” reads a police news release. “An RCMP helicopter was also dispatched to aid in the search with negative results so far.”
