Body recovered in Vernon

VERNON — Vernon RCMP says a body has been recovered from the shore of Okanagan Lake south of the Outback resort on Eastside Road in Vernon.

Police say they were called Tuesday about the body by a passing boater about 6:30 p.m.

RCMP with the assistance of the Vernon Search and Rescue attended and attempted to retrieve the body, but were not able to because of its precarious location and nightfall.

The RCMP dive team was brought in Wednesday morning to retrieve the body.

At this time the initial investigative findings indicate that the death is non-suspicious and the RCMP will continue to work with the BC Coroners Service on the investigation.
