KAMLOOPS — With temperatures throughout the southern and central Interior on the rise this week, more flooding is also likely on the horizon.

The BC River Forecast Centre is maintaining a flood watch for the Bonaparte River and its tributaries around Cache Creek after a surge of meltwater caused some flooding late Friday. TNRD Emergency Services Information Officer Agnese Saat says the regional district is monitoring the situation closely.

“Basically what we’re doing is working with our provincial stakeholders to assess the situation,” Saat explained. “Weather is going to be the greatest factor in determining what happens from here on in.”

With area creeks and rivers swelling with spring runoff, the TNRD is making sure people are aware of the potential dangers that come with rushing waters. Saat suggests exercising a high degree of caution if you’re around running water.
