WolfPack take two of three from Calgary

CALGARY, AB – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team are back on the right track after they took two of three games from the University of Calgary Dinos on Saturday. The two teams played a tripleheader because of rain in the forecast for Sunday. The ‘Pack took game one 4-1, lost game two 5-3 and won game three 10-6.

Dillon Ferguson (Kirkland, WA) got the start in game one and was terrific. He got the win in a complete game effort, allowing one run on 10 hits and three walks. He struck out seven batters.

Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) stayed hot offensively, going 1-2 with a two-RBI single in the first inning. Josiah Williams (Cloverdale, BC) went 2-3 with a RBI. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) went 1-4 with a RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) went 1-1 with a double, a run scored and a walk. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) and Taylor Van Ham (Medicine Hat, AB) both went 1-3.

In game two, Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) started on just two days rest. He suffered the loss, going three innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks. He struck out two batters. Scott Wood (Stratford, ON) tossed two innings and allowed one run on two hits and a walk. He struck out two batters. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) threw one inning, allowing just one hit and one walk.

Liam Rihela continued his great day in game two as he went 3-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Josiah Williams went 1-4 with a RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Josh Hillis went 1-2 with a double and two walks. Nick Bolt (Brooks, AB) went 1-3 with a run scored, a stolen base and a walk.

In game three, left-hander Josh Snider got the start and earned the win. He threw five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits, a walk and two hit batters over two innings of work.

Liam Rihela went 2-2 with a triple, four RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base in game three. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) went 3-4 with a RBI. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) hit a solo homerun and finished 1-3. Zac Comeault (Pitt Meadows, BC) finished 2-2 with two runs scored and a walk. Jackson Dartnell (Winnipeg, MB) went 1-2 with a double, two runs scored and a walk. Josh Hillis went 1-2 with two walks and three runs scored. Kurtis Wall (Kelowna, BC) collected a RBI with a bases-loaded walk. Malik James (Toronto, ON) went 1-4 and reached on a error twice. Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) went 1-3.

The WolfPack will travel back to Kamloops Sunday and have a couple days to get ready to play the Okanagan College Coyotes on Wednesday down in Kelowna.
