Premier says he “won’t back down”

VICTORIA —   B-C’s premier says he won’t back down on his government’s opposition to the Trans Mountain pipeline project, despite being summoned to a meeting with the prime minister in Ottawa.

John Horgan says he’s willing to hear what Justin Trudeau and Alberta Premier Rachel Notley have to say in a meeting scheduled for Sunday, and he doesn’t believe there’s a need for threats, provocation or — quote — “sabre rattling.”

But the premier says Trudeau and Notley are mistaken if they expect him to drop B-C’s court actions over the project or its advocacy for protection from oil spills.

Kinder Morgan has cited the B-C government’s opposition to the 7.4-billion dollar expansion for the company’s decision to freeze spending on the project. (The Canadian Press)
