KAMLOOPS — The authors of a best-selling book detailing the lead-up to last spring’s historic provincial election will be in Kamloops this week.

‘A Matter of Confidence’ opens with the implementation of the Harmonized Sales Tax by the Gordon Campbell-led B.C. Liberal government shortly after the 2009 election.

From there, the book traces Christy Clark’s rise to the leadership of the Liberal party, the election of John Horgan as leader of the B.C. NDP, and the stunning election in 2017 that saw the Liberals win the most seats and popular vote, but lose control of the legislature to a partnership between the NDP and B.C. Greens.

Vancouver Sun legislative columnist Rob Shaw and then-CBC legislature reporter Richard Zussman combined to tell the tale.
