Wildfire in Lytton being ‘held’

LYTTON — Progress to report on the first significant wildfire of the season near Lytton.

The suspected human-caused four-hectare blaze broke out Wednesday but crews already have a handle on it.

“As of this morning the fire is being held at approximately 75 hectares,” says Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius.

“So, it has grown over the course of the day yesterday but a lot of that growth was actually the result of burn out operations that were done by the BC Wildfire Service and the control lines were moved out a bit further than they may have normally been because of inaccesible land. But we don’t expect further growth on it at this time.”
