KAMLOOPS — Forensic specialists have yet to recover the body discovered at the Domtar pulp mill Wednesday, and Kamloops RCMP say it could take longer than a day before the body is removed from the scene.

It was discovered by employees at around 3:00 p.m. yesterday on the property near one of the mill's settling ponds.

RCMP Serious Crime Unit, the Forensic Indentification Section and the Coroner's Officer all attended. The scene is currently being processed by forensic specialists.

"Once the body has been removed, an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and time of death and its identity," says Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. "At this time it is unknown what the gender or age of the body is."

She says police are securing the site at Mission Flats Road until the body has been extracted from the pond.
