Flagger assaulted with full can of beer near Sicamous

KAMLOOPS — Mounties are seeking the public’s help in locating a person alleged to have thrown a full can of beer at a flagger, hitting him in the head.

South East District RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says it happened Monday on Highway 1 shortly after 9 a.m. 

“The male victim was busy setting up a cautionary sign on Highway 1 west of Sicamous when he was struck by the can of beer. The victim was wearing a hard hat and glasses at the time of the assault which were both knocked off of his head,” he says. “The hard hat prevented the victim from any significant injury.”

He says the offending vehicle was described as a small black car without a front license plate. The victim was unable to identify the make or specific model of the vehicle.

“The information was immediately relayed to the Salmon Arm RCMP to attempt to intercept the suspect vehicle, however a time delay in the report being made to police resulted in the vehicle not being located,” says Moskaluk.
