Heffley Creek Bridge construction begins

KAMLOOPS — Good news for Heffley Creek residents.

Work has begun on a bridge to replace the washed-out section of Old Highway 5 in Heffley Creek. 

The work was prompted by a storm last May which caused significant damage to the Heffley Creek channel on Old Highway 5.

Earlier this month, the City of Kamloops said the contract for the work was awarded to Acres Construction at a cost of $2.1 million. The roadway is expected to be complete by spring 2018.

Darren Crundwell, the city’s capital projects manager, notes the road closure will be “an inconvenience for the community,” closing the construction site to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic until work is complete.
