KAMLOOPS — A firefighting aircraft blew a tire upon landing at Kamloops Airport this morning.

No one was injured.

Airport Operations Manager Jeff Scherban says there were two people on board, and the blown tire caused the plane to skid off the runway.

Scherban says airport firefighters and Kamloops Fire Rescue crews were on scene quickly.

"A new tire was put on the plane and it was removed from the runway and examined for further damage" said Scherban. "In the end, the airport and Runway 0927 were closed for approximately an hour."

"There was minimal impact to aircraft operations," added Scherban. "Air Canada was delayed a little bit on a couple of their flights, but that was it."
