VERNON, B.C. — Police continue to search Polson Park after a shooting incident this afternoon.

“Just after 1:30 this afternoon, Vernon RCMP were called to several reports that someone had been shot in the Polson Park area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male who was suffering from  a gunshot wound,” says Corporal Jannelle Shoihet from RCMP E Division.

Media reports say he was shot in the leg.

The incident took place near the homeless camp area on the south east side of the park, behind the Polson Mall.

The park was closed off to the public for safety reasons.

Shoihet says the boardwalk, steps, and walkway in the park remain closed as police search for a suspect and evidence in the case.
