KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Search and Rescue volunteers and RCMP are searching the Thompson River after the report of a person jumping from the Overlanders Bridge this morning.

The emergency call was made around 10:45 a.m., with the witness saying the subject jumped from the southeast side of the bridge.

RCMP, Kamloops Fire Rescue, CP Rail Police and Emergency Health Services personnel responded immediately.

But even with the assistance of the KFR boat, search dogs and a police helicopter, no one was found.

Investigators are now looking to the public for help.

"We don't have an identification for that person," said Staff Sgt. Michel Grondin. "So we are asking the public if anyone was on the bridge and may have seen this person go over the railing, or perhaps they have seen someone who may have been acting strangely around that time, if they could please call us."

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.
