Junction box covers disappear from Downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says someone is stealing electrical junction box covers from the downtown.

Public Works and Utilities Director Jen Fretz says she doesn’t know what a thief would want with the covers, but exposing the electrical cables within does present a danger.

“First of all, we’re putting cones and temporary orange painted plywood covers on top of these holes when we do find them. Again, those are temporary. We do have some new metal covers on order and as soon as they get here we will be replacing those temporary covers with the new covers,” explained Fretz.

Fretz notes the city is doing everything possible to put a stop to the mischief.
