Two people are dead following a head on collision west of Kamloops.
The accident happened on Highway 1 around 11:30 a.m., 4 kilometres east of Abbey Road, near the turnoff to New Gold.
Stacey Johnson says she witnessed the collision happen right in front of her.
She says a car traveling west-bound went into oncoming traffic right in front of a black truck.
“That car got smashed up pretty good, I can’t even remember the colour, because it got smashed and you saw parts flying. That car went flying off the road into the ditch down the hill.”
RCMP confirm the two occupants of the car died at the scene, while the two occupants of the pickup truck were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with injuries.
Highway 1 was closed in both directions for several hours and members from Central Interior Traffic Services and the Traffic Analyst were called in to investigate.
