Kamloops senior almost falls victim to scam

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are becoming increasingly concerned over the actions of a scam artist who attempted to take money from a Kamloops senior. 

The senior had received a phone call Friday, Oct. 21, from someone pretending to be from the Royal Bank, asking the woman to withdraw $4,800, and saying her account was compromised. 

The Kamloops senior was then questioned about her route from home to the bank. The senior withdrew the cash, but took a different route. 

An alleged scam artist met up with another elderly female on 8th Street near Westminster Ave, and upon asking about the money realized he had the wrong target.

The suspect identified himself as Mr. Wilcox and is described as white, 45-50 years old, about 5’8″ tall, medium build, and clean shaven. He was wearing a tweed hat, and dark coloured clothing.
