Standoff suspect facing numerous charges

KAMLOOPS — A man is facing a trio of charges, including attempted murder, after a lengthy standoff in Sahali over the weekend.

Derek John Muirhead was expected to have a bail hearing in BC provincial court today.

RCMP say the incident began Saturday morning at about 11:20 in the 700 block of McGill Road, and involved a dispute between two men that resulted in shots being fired.

One man was arrested a short time later nearby, but the other was holed up in the Landmark Residences for about eight hours before the standoff came to a peaceful end.
