KAMLOOPS — Major redevelopment plans for Thompson Rivers University will go to public hearing.

The strategy includes major residential, commercial, and educational developments on the TRU campus property.

This afternoon, Kamloops council voted unanimously to send the plans to the public for input.

Councillor Ken Christian points out there is a major Official Community Plan review underway, but the TRU property stands alone.

“I think the University precinct is unique and I am comforted to hear (Director of Development and Engineering Services Marvin) Kwiatkowski has been working with them extensively to get to this stage, so I am quite interested to hear what the public has to say about how that University precinct is going to interact with the rest of Kamloops,” said Christian.

The public hearing will take place some time within the month of May.
