SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) partially rescinded its evacuation alert and order related to the Shetland Creek wildfire Thursday (July 25) night.

Residents for three properties in Electoral Area “I” (Blue Sky Country), including Ashcroft Ranch and any others outlined in orange, can return home at 8:00 a.m. Friday as the TNRD downgraded them from an evacuation order to an evacuation alert.

Additionally, 59 properties in Electoral Area “I” were given all clear status, including portions of Upper Hat Creek Road, Boston Flats, areas south of Ashcroft and east of the Thompson River. All properties outlined in green are no longer on evacuation alert.

The moves came hours after the Villages of Ashcroft and Cache Creek rescinded their evacuation alerts after Thursday’s weather assisted firefighters tackling the 22,476-hectare Shetland Creek wildfire.

However, 94 properties in Electoral Area “I” remain on evacuation order while 154 remain on evacuation alert.

Guidelines on what to do in an evacuation alert or order can be viewed here.
