Evacuation alerts rescinded in Ashcroft, Cache Creek as Mother Nature takes the side of firefighters
ASHCROFT, B.C. — A turn in the weather and progress fighting the Shetland Creek wildfire have resulted in good news for the communities of Ashcroft and Cache Creek.
Both communities have rescinded evacuation alerts, effective at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (July 25). Both alerts were initially put in place last Friday (July 19).
In its update to residents distributed by Voyent Alert! the Village of Cache Creek says firefighters have made significant progress fighting the fire on the portions closest to the community.
It notes the weather is predicted to continue helping firefighters and there is “high confidence that the north head of the fire will hold at Hat Creek Road.”
