TORONTO — Kelly Olynyk of Kamloops is among 20 players named to the men’s Canadian basketball team roster for a training camp ahead of the Olympic Summer Games in Paris.

The camp will run from June 28 to July 7 in Toronto, according to a Canada Basketball announcement on Wednesday (June 19).

Olynyk helped Canada qualify for the Games last year at the FIBA World Cup in Manila, Philippines.

The Canadians knocked off the U.S. to win bronze and earned an Olympics berth with a victory over Spain in the quarter-final round.

Seventh-ranked Canada — which most recently competed at the Games in 2000 in Sydney — will toil in Group A in Paris, along with Australia, Spain and Greece.

Olynyk (captain), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Andrew Wiggins and Jamal Murray are among the NBA stars expected to lead Canada at the Olympics.

The training camp roster also includes Dillon Brooks, RJ Barrett, Kyle Alexander, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Trae Bell-Haynes, Khem Birch, Dwight Powell, Lu Dort, Phil Scrubb, Thomas Scrubb, Melvin Ejim, Trey Lyles, Oshae Brisset, Zach Eday, Mfiondu Kabengele and Andrew Nembhard.
