Strike at Gibraltar Mine ends following ratification of new contract
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The strike at Gibraltar Mine has ended.
This after members of Unifor Local 3018 ratified a three-year collective agreement Tuesday night (June 18) following a tentative deal reached with Taseko Mines.
The contract increases wages 13 per cent over three years and introduces a women’s advocate in the workplace to champion equity. It also recognizes the federal labour code’s leave for Indigenous practices.
The deal also includes clarity and fairness when it comes to drug testing as well as additional transparency during the discipline process.
